Limca Book of Records showcasing 60 Indians launched

In commemoration of 60 years of India's independence Coca-Cola India launched a special edition of Limca Book of Records showcasing the achievements of 60 Indians in various fields including politics, medicine, entertainment, art and sport.

Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath launched the "India Extraordinaire, 60 Years, 60 Luminaries" at a special function organized in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as a part of India@60.

"India is one of the world's fastest growing economies, but what really defines the country is her indomitable spirit, Nath added, pointing out that the achievements of the 60 stalwarts captured in this special edition subtly reveal the grandeur of India's 60 glorious years of Independence," Kamal Nath said, launching the book.

The 152-page book begins with the pages of freedom struggle highlighting the contributions of leaders, including Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, moves on to the literary pieces of Rabindranath Tagore, melodies of Kishore Kumar and the business strategies of JRD Tata, and Nara yana Murthy.

Renowned lyricist and poet, Gulzar, has penned the foreword for the book. A new India, Nath said, has taken shape through these 60 years of Independence.

Along with the book, President of CII Sunil Bharti Mittal inaugurated Limca Book of Records Website www.limcabookofrecords.in.

The list of 60 luminaries who grace this special edition book was drawn up by the H K Dua, Editor-in-Chief, Tribune and Professor Dipankar Gupta, of Jawaharlal Nehru University.
