Introduction:


Established in 1998, Naandi Foundation is an autonomous, not-for-profit trust dedicated to changing lives of the marginalized groups in India through public-private partnerships. Naandi’s focus is directed towards protection of child rights; creation of sustainable livelihood options and the provision of safe drinking water. In this effort Naandi is working with over 500,000 people in some of the most backward districts in 7 states and 1 Union Territory.

Background about Child Rights:

Naandi’s Child Rights portfolio which spans urban slums, rural villages and tribal hamlets across the country takes on the responsibility of nation building together with the state.

Their portfolio derives from a range of government programs in the country - be it for safe motherhood, integrated child development, or for elementary education - that have enormous potential to improve the quality of life of children. The conviction that every child is entitled to quality care and nurture, and at various stages of life she must get essential health, education and nutritional inputs irrespective of whether her parents can pay for it or not, guides our interventions. They cover the entire lifecycle of a child - right from conception to pre-adulthood -converging critical inputs of health, nutrition and education to equip her with those faculties and capabilities necessary to improve her life chances.

THE PROGRAMMES UNDER HEAD ECL:

Ensuring Children Learn

Quality education in government schools - Developing innovative and creative curriculum to reinforce academic concepts to children in identified ‘hard spots’ of learning, enabling them to understand and practice these concepts during special classes held everyday before or after schools, and regularly assessing the learning levels of children has become part of our education programme “Ensuring Children Learn (ECL).”

Nanhi Kali: for the girl child

The vision of this programme is to ensure girl children are not discriminated against their right to quality formal education. Through this program Naandi in partnership with the KC Mahindra Education Trust helps in creating special sops and opportunities for girl children to enroll and complete 10 years of formal schooling with the guarantee that all of them will have demonstrable grade specific competencies in math, science and language. The programme emphasizes on supporting girl children with a range of social, academic and material support that enable and empower her to continue schooling by minimizing social or economic constraints

Key Roles and Responsibilities

The role will be an integral part of the Management Committee / Top Management of Naandi and will contribute significantly to planning, strategy and achieving the operational goals of the Ensuring Children Learn (ECL) initiative.

• Incumbent would be accountable for strategy and execution of ECL initiative (includes Nanhi Kali program).
• Responsible for designing, executing and monitoring systems and process towards ensuring quality of the program
• Recommend yearly operational budget for approval and effectively manage the program’s resources within budget guidelines
• The incumbent, in order to ensure the above, also needs to build and maintain a motivated team both in the in the head office and in the field. He/she also needs to continuously scale up the capabilities of his/her team in the domain and other areas such as IT, HR, Project management.
• The incumbent will liaison with the Governmental education and other agencies as well as other civil society organisations at the Centre and State level to expand and facilitate the initiatives.
• Work towards becoming a thought leader and work towards fulfilling the foundation’s vision and build Naandi’s brand.

Qualifications and Skills Specification:

1) Post Graduate (Masters), preferably an M.B.A.
2) Minimum 12 years of professional experience with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role (at least functional) in a medium-large organization with a successful record of leading and managing large teams and budgets in the range of at least 3-5 crores.
3) Demonstrated large scale program operation management and goal setting skills.
4) Understanding of the 'principles of partnership' with multiple stakeholders i.e. NGO sector, government sector, private partners.
5) Excellent communication skills and capability to represent the organization in professional forums.
6) Entrepreneurial and innovative in approach to the management of objectives
7) Preferable: Strong linkages with stakeholders in the education/not for profit domain.
